#Stay Home
Israeli  FilmFestival

The festival is a joint initiative  by Roni Geffen, author of documentaries and Founding Director of the Hebrew Ulpan for adults “The Hebrew Workshop” and producer Gil Sima (Sima Films) .

At the Ulpan we teach Hebrew through literary texts, but also through the works  films and music at the heart of Israeli culture.
As part of the Ulpan's activities, a Hebrew course was planned in collaboration with the Israeli Film Festival in Paris (the date initially set for the end of March has been postponed to a later date). The initial program consisted of watching Israeli films during the Festival and discussing them in Hebrew in class. It seemed simple, however, the news decided otherwise...

Following the COVID-19 crisis, the course migrated to the web. At each online session, we approached another film and invited the Israeli directors who revealed their creative process to us. Following the success of the course we imagined a Festival which would include a series of meetings with the directors of the series or films,  in a place where they feel most comfortable: at home or in their studio.

This is how the #STAY HOME ISRAELI FILM FESTIVAL was born: the Israeli and French public, everyone at home receives the best of Israeli cinematographic creation. Together we discuss the challenges and dilemmas faced by authors, we look  and discuss the intricacies of these thrilling scenes, including those cut out during editing. The conversation takes place in  Hebrew and will be translated into  French.

We work to offer you the best of Israeli creation and reveal the stories behind the works.

We are happy to present to you the first meetings of the Festival. Upcoming events will be posted soon.
As long as you stay at home, we accompany you.

Programming

The visit of the marching band

On Independence Day we organize a meeting with editor Arik Lahav Leibovich and cameraman Shay Goldman. We will have the opportunity to watch the original scene of the film which was cut during the editing. How were moments of magic created with director Eran Kolirin and why did the film become one of the most recognized Israeli films in the world?

OUR BOYS

During a meeting with Hagaï Levi, director of the series and Adam Gabaï, the actor who plays Avishaï's jolly, we will discover, among other things, why Hagai Levi had initially called his series "Weeds" and why he finally chose to title “Our Boys”.  A controversial name that led Benjamin Netanyahu to call the series "anti-Semitic".  How did Adam Gabaï work on the character of Avishaï, a young man studying in a Yeshiva and accomplice in the murder?

Mr. GAGA
Discussion with Tomer Heymann (director), Itaï Raziel (Cameraman) and Stéphane Perry (Dancer). In his film Tomer Heymann retraces the story of Ohad Naharin,  Batsheva Dance Company choreographer.
Why the process of working on the film took more than eight years and how
the movie is about  Naharin's ecstatic encounter with the stage?
Alongside his role as artistic director of the company, Ohad Naharin has developed "GAGA" an innovative language of movement,
which was born from the need to communicate with the dancers and from an infinite curiosity for the search for movement. Why hundreds of people during the COVID-19 period begin to practice GAGA online? What is its secret?

The discussion is in Hebrew with simultaneous translation into French.
